Mooncakes are round like a full moon!  It is the most important food during the Mid-Autumn Festival. It’s as important as turkey at Thanksgiving.

Mooncakes are given to family, friends and business partners as a way to show unity and togetherness. The cake’s round shape represents the full moon and is stamped with the Chinese symbol of “harmony” or “longevity.”

Mid-Autumn is the best time to enjoy the full moon. It is a time when skies are at their clearest.

For people in China the full moon means family time. If they can't go home, they look at the moon. They know their family is looking at the moon too.

Head out and start your moon journal on the day of Mid-Autumn festival and follow the moon's phases throughout the month of October!

If the kids are too young to head out and find the moon, they don't have to miss out. Try this chart to show them the different phases of the moon while getting a fun snack at the same time!
